Making your seasoning blends gives you complete control over the ingredients they contain. Purchasing spice blends at your grocery store can be risky because many contain sodium, even those you might not expect. (I’m looking at you, Lemon Pepper seasoning.) If you’re living a low sodium lifestyle, mixing your own spices, like this All Purpose Salt Free Seasoning Blend, will allow you to add flavor to your recipes without worrying about hidden or unexpected sodium.

This recipe is simple to prepare and will last for months if properly stored. I call it all-purpose because it’s delicious on everything. I use it generously on steaks, chicken, and fish. Mix it into ground beef or turkey for extra flavorful burgers or meatballs.

Low sodium food does not have to be bland to be healthy, and this All Purpose Salt Free Seasoning Blend will enhance the flavor of everything you sprinkle it on!

Variations

It’s easy to add your spin to this recipe. Creating your spice blends is an excellent way to control their ingredients. For a smokier flavor, replace half of the paprika with smoked paprika. Chili powder will add a hint of spice, but to add serious heat, whisk in crushed red pepper flakes to taste.

How Do I Use This Seasoning Blend?

This spice mix is perfect for meat, poultry, and vegetables. I use 1½ to 2 teaspoons per pound of food. I sprinkle it on meats and poultry before cooking, and it’s a family favorite on roasted vegetables.

How to Store this Spice Blend?

Store your seasoning blend in an airtight container at room temperature. It can share space on your spice rack with the rest of your dried herbs and spices.
